98º Release Their Highly Anticipated CD!

Nick, Jeff, Drew and Justin Release Revelation!

On September 26, 2000, 98º released their fourth CD, Revelation.  Their first single, the South of the Border track, "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)" has already made history, shattering Britney Spears's record for most-added top 40 track!   The group's ultimate aspiration has always been to have people recognize that their talent goes beyond their amazing harmonies.  With their new album-they've achieve that goal.  On Revelation, the guys co-wrote 11 of the album's 13 tracks.   "That's why we're so excited about the project," says Drew. "We were able to contribute so much to it.  I think  it's   going to reflect on  the album-we feel so close to the songs."

Known for their ballads, the group purposely chose "Una Noche" to be their first single to show that they've reached a new level.  They wanted their fans to see a side of 98º that they've never seen before.  "['Una Noche' is] so energeticand intense," says Nick  "We've never had an uptempo single so that in itself was a depature for us."  Along with Revelation's Latin vibe, the album is an eclectic mix of harmonies, string, R&B, pop and hip-hop rhythms.  "The theme of this album is really about us growing musically," says Jeff.  "We tried not to have any boundaries, tried different stuff," adds Nick  "The album is so versatile, there's so many different types of songs."  There's even a rap written and sung by Nick in the song "Dizzy," although he doesn't think it'll become a 98º staple.  "I enjoy rhyming," says Nick.  "I wrote it in five minutes and just put it down.  It was something fun to do."  Other songs include the romantic ballad "Stay The Night," the Seal-inspired "Yesterday's Letter," co-written by Drew and Jeff, the funky dance track "You Should Be Mine," the Southern hip-hop flavor of "Dizzy," co-written by Drew, and the Earth, Wind and Fire inspired, "Never Giving Up," co-written by Jeff and Justin.  The album as a whole is filled with songs about love and loss-and living life to the fullest.  Due to their large contribution to the album, even some personal experiences made the cut.  The tender track, "My Everything" was inspired by Nick's sweetie Jessica Simpson.  "That song is purely dedicated to her and knows that," says Nick.  "That's special for both of us."

Having some time off from their hectic schedule enabled the guys to bring their fresh ideas and creativity into the project.  "I felt like this was the first time we got to catch out breath, get our creative vibe going and grow,"   says Justin.  "We came back with fresh ideas and fresh ears.   The hardest part of making this album was picking and choosing the songs,   because there was a lot of material to choose from."

The group's hope is that Revelation will keep inspiring people.   "To see how it's accepted and what people think about it, that's the exciting part," says Drew.  "All  we ever wanted to do was be recognized for the music and have people enjoy  our music,"  says Nick.  "My hope for this album is that people will continue to appreciate it and have respect for what we do."
