Into A New Paradise- Part 9

Drew took a deep breath, he'd never really said anything like this to
anyone before, and he didn't want to screw it up. "Ali...I, I've never felt
like this before. I know that's really cheesy and all but its true. Even
though I haven't known you very long, I don't want to leave you. I feel like
I've known you for a long time, and I honestly can't remember the last time I've had this much fun with anyone. Its not going to be easy or anything, but I want to keep seeing you. Ali, I fell for you hard when we were introduced, and I'm still falling for you. Ali...I guess what I'm asking is if there can be an us. Because that's what I want more than anything" he said earnestly, holding onto her hands tightly.

Ali's eyes widened as she listened to Drew. Admittedly, she'd been
hoping for something like this, but she had decided that actually hearing it was beyond the realm of possibilities. There weren't any guys who wanted a meaningful relationship, at least that's what she found from her own experience.

"Ali, please say something" Drew pleaded, his throat constricting from
emotions he was struggling not to show. "Drew, I don't want what we have to just end because we're not seeing each other all the time. There was something there when we first met, and I know you felt it too. I know we can make this work, even it does mean that we'll always be jet-lagged or something. Drew, I don't want to just forget about you...You're what I've been looking for" she said, finishing in a whisper.

Drew was speechless for a moment, "You're amazing, you know that?" he
said, dropping her hands and moving them around her waist. Ali's smile was radiant, "You're not too bad yourself," she said, moving her hands around his neck. Drew smiled, "So we're gonna try it?" "I thought we already agreed on that" "Just wanted to make sure" he replied, moving his face closer to hers. "Mmmhmm" Ali said, her eyes partly closed in expectation. "Ali?" Drew said softly. Was he ever going to kiss her? she wondered, "Yeah?" she asked. "Can I kiss you?" "Do you really have to ask?"  Drew smiled, gently pressing his lips to hers.
