Into A New Paradise- Part 8

"Hi, thanks for agreeing to meet me" Drew sat, a little out of breath from his frantic sprint to meet her in time. Ali smiled at him, "Do you really think I wouldn't have?" she asked, as they walked outside. Drew automatically reached for her hand as they stopped on the water's edge, "Honestly?" he asked, smiling at her, "I hoped you would, but if you were tired, I'd understand" Ali laughed softly, squeezing his hand lightly, "Nah, I'm good to go" "Wanna walk?" Drew asked, looking somewhere in the distance.

Ali nodded, "Sure" she agreed. She knew Drew was thinking about something, but she wasn't sure how to bring up the subject. She knew he was bothered by something, but she hardly knew him. How could she just ask him if she was bothering him or what? But if she was bothering him, would he be holding her hand? Ali frowned, biting on her lip, that wasn't something exactly pleasant to think about.   

Great...she hates me, Drew thought to himself. How on earth was he supposed to tell her this when she wasn't exactly looking thrilled? He thought she might be glad to know how he felt, but then again, how sure was he of how she felt? This was getting him absolutely nowhere. He thought for a moment. She was too special to just forget about. And he knew he'd never be able to forget about her, so he should just explain. Yeah, that was a good idea. Taking a deep breath, he stopped walking.

The sudden stop jolted Ali out of her thoughts, "You ok?" she asked, lightly touching his shoulder. Drew nodded, "Yeah, I'm ok, ya know" he said, trying to shake the feeling of insecurity.

Ali looked at him skeptically, "I know this is going to sound rude, but I don't believe you" she said, crossing her arms over her chest. Drew laughed, "What makes you say that?" "You look like you're about to run away or something, I'm not completely sure what" she said, raising her eyebrows at him.

The smile slowly left Drew's face, only to be replaced by a pensive expression, he studied her face intently for what seemed at eternity to Ali. "Ali?" he asked so softly she could barely hear him. "Drew?" she asked, trying to keep the expectation out of her voice. "I was wondering if you wouldn't...I mean if you want...." he stumbled over the words. "What is it?" she asked, lightly resting her hand on his shoulder.
